Anna, a 2 1/2 year old Aussiedoodle made her way to Almost Home Foster & Rescue of MN by way of an owner/surrender. This surrender was a heart wrenching decision to make. Anna and her family had once lived in a large, beautiful home with a huge, securely fenced yard and Anna had the luxury to come and go, through the doggie door at will, and as her heart was content. Human Poppa passed and the big house and the big yard was more than Human Momma could take on, so she downsized. She moved closer to family, bought a condo near a dog park and thought that Anna would be happy. For Anna, the great outdoors was a priority and the ventures to the dog park resulted in hours of trying to catch Anna to bring her home. This isn’t the life that Linda wanted for Anna. She made the decision and the phone call and asked us to help.
We brought Anna into rescue and we entertained a couple of applications and even scheduled a couple of meet and greets, however, they just weren’t the right fit for Anna. We then received a phone call from Colorado. They were looking for a “doodle.” Always had doodles, loved the doodle breed and were ready to open their hearts and home to another. We processed the application and together with Nova, another dog making the trip to her furever home near the Rockies, we set out late on a Friday night and arrived at Anna’s furever home mid-morning.
Anna’s new Human Poppa was unavailable at the time we arrived at her new home, but Momma was already prepared and ready. Once again, Anna has a huge, securely fenced yard, a momma who walks two miles a day, and a family ready to provide her with all her needs, and a few of her wants.
Walter and Barbara, we are furever grateful that you have opened your hearts and home to Anna. Thank you for giving her the home, family, and life that she so richly deserves.
