A Neglect Pup in WV, Nova Finds the Jackpot of Families in Colorado

Nova found herself incarcerated at the Nicholas County Animal Shelter in Summerville WV when a family, in their attempt to discipline their child, surrendered the dog because he/she didn’t care for it…it was, after all Nova was his/her responsibility.  Nova had a severe case of flea mange, and at 1.5 years of age, this neglectful family was the only family she knew.
Terri Morse reached out to Almost Home Foster & Rescue of MN.  “I know this isn’t your breed to work with, but can you steer us in the direction of a bully breed?  Nova is small, 33#, a pocket bully, if you will.”

Give me a minute…A phone call was made, conversation went back and forth for a couple of days.  Videos were taken, photos sent, and then, “I’ll take her.”

Timid, afraid of this big world she had entered, Nova was vetted, her skin was treated, and finally she was ready for transport, first to Minnesota and then onto the scenic Colorado Rockies.

Once she settled in with her furever family, Nova’s personality came through.  She is a sweet perfection.  Except that she believes the doggy-door is the portal to hell, she is living her best life.
Although the family has asked for autonomy, I can assure you that this family is the jackpot of gold for Nova, they have to be…this family has a combined adoption rate of 6 AHFR furbabies.

We are furever grateful to this family for their unwavering commitment to rescue, to the health and welfare of every animal and I am proud to call them family.
