As is common in the southern states, if a hound proves not to be a worthy hunter; can’t bring home the goods, he/she is cut loose from the pack; left behind, forgotten. They are considered commodities and if that doesn’t bring in the dollars, the goods, the rabbits, coons, or whatever else their human wants, they are an unwanted expense. Many are left in the woods from whence they failed their “trial hunting runs” only to have to fend and learn to survive. The lucky ones happen upon a good Samaritan, one that will take them in, or take them to a safe location. Ms Molly was a lucky one. She ended up in the care of Rose Cochran and friends. Almost Home Foster & Rescue of MN was tagged in the post and Molly, along with two other WV female Beagles, made their way to Minnesota and into their furever homes.
Dick and Judy, long time Beagle pet parents, searched every rescue, pound, and shelter in their area looking for a Beagle. They had gone too long without. Retired, and with time on his hands, Dick scoured the internet in search of a Beagle. He found Ms Molly and called us immediately. We had a slight delay is scheduling a meet and greet, Judy was recouping from a recent surgery and we didn’t want energetic Molly upsetting any apple cart. As it was, Molly was a gentle angel around Momma Judy.
As one can see, Molly settled in with her Poppa almost immediately. Dick is taking Molly for her walks, two to three time a day, has put in a fenced area for her, and an outdoor kennel area. Molly is quite smitten Judy and her quiet, gentle demeanor and they just enjoy each other’s company.
“Molly is doing just great. She’s getting closer and closer to Sophie (the cat) all the time Sophie still bats at her but they are getting closer each day. I take Molly for a walk in the morning and then again in the afternoon. She is settling in really good. She likes to sit with us and to be loved up. She likes Judy more than me, I think. Thanks again for this wonderful dog.”
Dick and Judy, thank you for opening your hearts and home to Molly. Thank you for giving her the family that she so richly deserves. Heart hugs!
