Willow, FNA Ellie Mae, was witnessed to be wandering around the city of Oxford in Granville County North Carolina for nearly a month. She wasn’t alone, however, as she was secured and taken to the Granville County Animal Shelter along with, what appeared to be, her two sibling brothers. Released, dumped, abandoned, call it what you will, the three of them were left to forage and fend for themselves. At just a year of age, their lives were in constant jeopardy as they roamed the streets.
Almost Home Foster & Rescue of MN saw the initial posting for Bumper, and with the help of area residents, TC Michelle Zdybicki, and transporter Michael Gray, we were able to get Bumper to our Foster in Merry Hill. It was then that we were told that Kalvin and Ellie Mae were also at the shelter, and that they were secured together.
Michelle Bowen of Hounds HERO Rescue was able to pull and secure Ellie and Kalvin for us. Postings of their scheduled arrival in MN brought an influx of inquiries and a few promising applications.
Brian and Abbey were already members of the AHFR family. They adopted Buddy in April of 2019, an event that is still strong in our hearts today. Buddy was the first official AHFR Adoptee. We had worked for another rescue prior, but Buddy was our first full adoption. They again turned to AHFR in October of 2022 when they adopted Susie. Willow, now at home in Florida with her furever family, brought Brian and Abbey to the 3-Peat Adopter Status.

We are grateful that you always find space and love in your hearts and home to add “one more” to your family, always quick to provide for one in need.
