The Bulldog is a British breed of dog of mastiff type. It may also be known as the English Bulldog or British Bulldog. It is a medium-sized, muscular dog of around 40–55 lb. They have large heads with thick folds of skin around the face and shoulders, and a relatively flat face with a protruding lower jaw.
The English Bulldog, or any variation of the breed, is not one that typically appears on the Almost Home Foster/Rescue intake roster. We were asked if we had room for three English Bulldogs. Initially, we said “no.” In a conversation with Kris Adams, long time animal advocate and AHFK Board Member, I disclosed that I had “passed” on three English Bulldogs. “Ahhhh….say again….you did what?” And, after a little enlightening and education, I called the individual back and committed to three English Bulldogs.
We posted Bubba, Nora, and Ellie. We posted as available in both Colorado and Minnesota. Kris would foster these furbabies if we needed to transport to Colorado.
Bubba received applications immediately, from both states. We were able vet him, and last Thursday, Bubba made his way to his furever home and family.
Thank you, Jon and Shannon, for opening your hearts and home to Bubba.
We received an update early this morning:
Temperament wise Bubba is doing perfect! He’s getting along well with everyone, humans and another neighbor dog. He’s been sleeping just fine in a kennel. He’s perfect. He’s becoming more comfortable walking around outside not only on the concrete but warming up to walking on the grass. Currently as I’m typing this, he’s chilling outside with us in our front yard and he seemed perfectly content. I think he’ll be a great addition to our family 🙂
