Lucy, a 1 1/2 year old Goldendoodle, made her way to Almost Home Foster & Rescue of MN as an owner/surrender. With kids, and their never ending full-plate schedules, in addition to work schedules and commitments, Lucy just wasn’t receiving the quality time that she needed. A heart-wrenching decision was made to contact us and ask if we could find her a home and family, one in which she would be cherished, loved, and given all the time that she desired. Big requests, but we knew that we could pull this together.
We posted Lucy on several venues and in less than 3 hours we had our first inquiry via a phone call, a call that lasted 40 minutes. Les and Billie Jean wanted to be the first in line for consideration. They had always had dogs, big dogs, doodles, labs, and this was the longest that they had gone without. Billie Jean, retired, wanted that 4-legged company. Les, still actively farming and involved in the construction business that he built, wanted Billie Jean to have her heart’s desire….I love this couple.
We vetted Lucy, and readied her for a full day of transport, leaving at 6 AM on a Saturday morning, Lucy arrived “home” at 7:20 that evening. Billie Jean and Les, “loved her already.”
We are furever grateful for families like Les and Billie Jean. They have opened their home and their hearts to yet another fur-baby needing just that…a family and a home. Thank you Billie Jean and Les, we are eternally grateful.
