Originally Dumped and Abandoned, Left to Forage and Fend for Himself, Kalvin Finds His Furever Home & Family in God’s Country

Kalvin, was witnessed to be wandering around the city of Oxford in Granville County North Carolina for nearly a month.  He wasn’t alone, however, as he was secured and taken to the Granville County Animal Shelter along with, what appeared to be,his two siblings; a sister and a brother.  Released, dumped, abandoned, call it what you will, the three of them were left to forage and fend for themselves.  At just a year of age, their lives were in constant jeopardy as they roamed the streets.
Almost Home Foster & Rescue of MN saw the initial posting for Bumper, and with the help of area residents, TC Michelle Zdybicki, and transporter Michael Gray, we were able to get Bumper to our Foster in Merry Hill.  It was then that we were told that Kalvin and Ellie Mae were also at the shelter, and that they were all secured and brought in together.
Michelle Bowen of Hounds HERO Rescue was able to pull and secure Kalvin and Ellie Mae for us.  Postings of their scheduled arrival in MN brought an influx of inquiries and a few promising applications.
Dennis and Jan were already members of the AHFR family.  They adopted Sadie, a Beagle who was surrendered to us in November of 2022, and Zellia, a stubborn Boston Terrier, a breeder-release in June of 2023. Kalvin’s adoption also brought Dennis and Jan to the 3-Peat Adopter Status.
Zellia, nka Dottie was extremely excited to get a younger playmate.  Senior Buddy no longer has the drive and stamina to wrestle with the youngsters, or so we thought.  Kalvin, however, managed to bring out the puppy in Buddy, even if just for a few minutes.
Dennis and Jan, you make our hearts happy.  We are so grateful that you find the space in your home and hearts to bring in another.  Thank you for your ongoing support of AHFR, for your love and dedication to these furbabies in need.  We love you!
