Etymology. The origin of the name “Oreo” is unknown, but there are many hypotheses, including derivations from the French word or, meaning “gold”, or from the Greek word ωραίο (oreo) meaning “nice” or “attractive”. Others believe that the cookie was named Oreo simply because the name was short and easy to pronounce.
Whatever the name’s origin or meaning, we at Almost Home Foster and Rescue know that “our” Oreo is just as appealing and addictive as the popular Nabisco Oreo cookie. Dark chocolate brown on the outer edges and a sweet, cream in the middle.
Oreo came to AHFK as a breeder-release. The black and white colored Pomeranian is not commonly found and is very much desired. We were extremely careful with monitoring and vetting the applications that were submitted, but when the “perfect” family applied…we were all on board.
Sarah and Nick are long-time fosters for many of the rescues located in the metro are of MN, and previous pet-parents to a black and white Pomeranian. Their application, home, family dynamics were stellar. The meet and greet with their Cocker Spaniel, Eddie was also uneventful…it was a good fit all the way around.
Nick and Sara, thank you for opening your hearts and home to Oreo. Thank you for giving her the life and family that she so richly deserves. We are furever grateful.
