Maggie, a miniature Poodle, was initially welcomed into Almost Home Foster & Rescue of MN in March of 2025. She was scared of everything. Skittered away from everybody. Hid and cowered at any noise, sound, or unfamiliar sight. We had her at rescue for 6 months before she was adopted and we found a fabulous home. Her momma was retired and where momma went, Maggie went as well. 10 months into the adoption, we received a call. Maggie was not progressing. She had come so far and then stopped. Momma felt as if her home wasn’t the right place for Maggie. We referred her to Kerrie Hoar, Certified Trainer and founder of Crimson Hounds. After a lengthy conversation, it was determined that Maggie did indeed need more. She needed a fur-sibling, a family where one human was with her most of the day, and a fenced yard. Her fear of the lead and leash held her back from enjoying her walks and the outdoors to the fullest extent. Maggie came back to rescue on 07.03.2026. Her human momma was devastated, but knew it was in Maggie’s best interest.
Maggie was with us for less than two weeks when we received an application for her. Oh My Lanta!!! The boxes were all checked. Todd and Debbie, and their adult son, Aaron had work shifts that only allowed for a 2-2.5 hour parent-free home. Maggie would have a pet parent with her nearly all day. Maggie also gained two fur-sisters. And the backyard, well it is 3/4 fenced, but Maggie has given Todd the incentive to complete it.
Updates, photos, and videos prove that Maggie is in the right place, with the right family. She is relaxed, playing, learning a new routine and schedule, but she feels loved and safe, and she is.
Todd, Debbie, and Aaron, thank you for opening your hearts and home to Maggie. Thank you for giving her the environment where she could unlock her personality and playful spirit, and is able to gain her confidence. We are furever grateful.
We absolutely LOVE little Ms. Maggie!! She is a perfect fit for our family! She is gaining confidence every day with us, as well as her two fur siblings. She’s also finding her voice and is using it more often to make her demands known! 🙂 Thank you Dianne for all that you do to find these precious babies their furever homes!
