Ali, nka Titan, was also secured by Felicia Stilley, Foster Momma Extraordinaire of Oklahoma. Ali, testing heartworm positive, was surrendered by his family to the Seminole County Animal Shelter. Oklahoma Animal Shelters have a three-day hold for surrenders and strays, after that, if not claimed or adopted, they are euthanized. Not because the shelter staff doesn’t care, but because their intake numbers are so incredibly high, they are constantly trying to make room. Fosters are overwhelmed. Rescues are overwhelmed, and for families to come up with the funds to feed another mouth…we all get the picture. There was no way that Felicia and Barbara were going to let this little one go down. Again, Almost Home Foster & Rescue was contacted, arrangements were made, and Titan made his way to Minnesota to begin his treatment.
While traveling back from the Peoria IL area on Sunday afternoon, I received a message from a fellow transporter. She had recently lost her Great Dane and with a huge amount of love in this family’s heart, and a hole that needed mending, Stacy asked if we had any young, male dogs up for adoption. I replied that we had Ali/Tital, however, he needed heartworm treatment before he could be adopted. That’s okay, this family was still grieving and needing time, but “can I meet him.” The application was submitted and a couple of days later, Stacy, while on her way home from work, stopped in and met Ali/Titan. That is all she wrote and the rest is history. He had his new name before she even left.
Titan received his injection on June 6th. The following weekend, in his best interest of having a calm recovery space, we place Titan with Stacy and Jeff, under our Foster to Adopt Program. The adoption could not be finalized until the Heartworm treatment was complete.
Tonight, Titan returned home, home to Stacy and Jeff. He will complete his recovery time at home, with his new human family, surrounded by love, compassion, loving hearts and amazing, incredible people.
Thank you Jeff and Stacy, (and Gail Asher…you had a hand in this as well) for opening your hearts and home to Titan; we are furever grateful.
