Mental and Emotional Instability Causes a Neurological Disorder, But Kody Rebounds with the Perfect Furever Home and Family

Kody, at 6 years of age, had his whole world turned upside down.  His aging human parents were no longer able to care for him, his extended family couldn’t take him, and more often than not, he found himself in boarding at the local veterinarian office.  Over time, and with constant push from the family members, Kody’s parents relinquished him to the care and possession of the local veterinarian.  The lack of a stable home, the constant uncertainty and lack of stability caused a disconnect in Kody’s brain.  He began self-harming himself, chewing on his leg until it became infected.
Medications were prescribed, none were able to bring him peace.  The local veterinarian then turned him over to Amanda Weigel,  an Almost Home Foster & Rescue of MN foster.  Every attempt was made to bring Kody a stable environment, however, as with many fosters, and multiple animals, Kody was still lacking.  His chewing persisted.  In order to eliminate the self-harming tendencies, the veterinarian of record recommended amputation, otherwise the risk of the infection traveling into his body and organs was a great risk.
Once Kody recovered from his surgery we began the process of adoption.  We had to be diligent.  We needed to make sure that his family was there for him, that he never felt abandoned and “left” again.  And boy, did we nail it.
Lindsay and Cory had recently lost their canine furbaby to cancer.  They still had two resident cats, but a house just isn’t a home without a dog.  They submitted their application for Kody.  Even though they work outside the home for a better part of the week, Kody’s newly adopted Grandpa, who is fully retired, is enjoy his time with his Grand-dog.  Kody is never without family.
Thank you Lindsay and Cory for opening your hearts and home to Kody.  Thank you for giving him the best life that he can have.  And thank you Grandpa for making time and space for this boy in your life and heart.
Kody, you are Golden.  You are Loved.
