Bolt was surrendered to Lisa Dawn Hatfield of West Virginia. His owner had a terminal medical condition, and she was no longer able to care for Bolt. She entrusted Bolt to Lisa. Lisa found, what she thought was a nurturing home and family, however, Bolt was given away to a family member. He was attacked by other dogs, nearly killing him. Lisa, once again rescued him. He was covered in fleas and scabs and had lost a great deal of hair and weight. To ensure his safety and health, Bolt remained with Lisa. She knew, however, that he needed a home and family of his own. She turned to Cliff Bethke to help her find a rescue to take him.
Almost Home Foster & Rescue had a transport leaving West Virginia within the week. We were able to get Bolt a Health Certificate, finalize his vetting and get him on board. Bolt arrived with Elmer T and George on September 29th.
Just two weeks later we had an application for Bolt. Carole, an AHFK alumni adopter, had recently lost her hound dog Duke and was looking for another family member to fill the void. Just three months prior, Carole had adopted Kassie, and Maltese/Chihuahua from AHFK.
We checked in on Bolt and his new family a week later.
“Hi Dianne, Bolt made himself right at home. He had a little separation anxiety initially but is getting more comfortable and assertive every day. Still need the diapers but that should improve.
He will be a handful with all his energy, but he is a wonderful dog who has won my heart.”
Carole
Thank you, Carole, for opening your heart and home to Bolt. Thank your for giving him the family that he deserves.
