Whitey is Given a Second Chance When She Meets Her Furever Family

Whitey, a Miniature Schnauzer, was very social with other dogs, but was timid and reserved around humans.  Whitey was just beginning to come out of her shell, to approach us when we appeared, however, we still played a little “catch-me-if-you-can” when it was time to come in.  We knew that the ideal home for Whitey would be a retired couple, or one in which one of the family members worked from home.  We lucked out when Spencer and Ardie sent their application in.  They were young retirees.  They had knowledge and experience with the Schnauzer breed, and they have the patience of a Communion of Saints.  They were perfect.

The meet and greet went well, Spencer was aware of Whitey and her personality, her timidness, and reservations about the new place, but he was gentle, quiet and attentive.  We even received an update this morning,

“She tolerates us so far.  Seems to fear most things here, still, we love her.  Her name is now Buffy.”

After spending nearly 5 years in a crate, destined only to breed, the big world out there is scary.  She will take time, love, compassion, and patience to bring her around.  I haven’t a doubt in the world that she will receive that.

Thank you, Spencer and Ardie, for giving this little girl a chance.  Thank you for opening your heart and home to her and giving her the life that she deserves.
