Smokey made her way to Almost Home Foster and Rescue through a breeder-release. It is a little tougher to adopt out when these furbabies are middle aged, but our patience for the perfect home and family eventually pays off.
Smokey was extremely lucky in that we had two families, both repeat adopters of Almost Home Foster and Rescue, reached out and applied for Smokey. Both families enjoy the middle-aged to older Beagles and both provide an amazing family life and the perfect environment for the Beagle. The first had to back out of the process when they experienced a drastic change in their family dynamics.
Steve and Crystal, however, were ready to welcome Smokey home upon their arrival home from their family vacation. Early the next morning, we were on the road and heading West to Smokey’s furever home and family.
Smokey was a little apprehensive at AHFK early that morning, and it shows in her face. The routine was different, the timing was off, she was in a room filled with dogs that she normally didn’t see too often. Everything was OFF.
But, upon arriving at her new home and spending time with her new family and her new fur-sister, Smokey’s attitude lifted, and the worry lines seemed to melt away and she settled in almost immediately.
Steve and Crystal, thank you for giving Smokey the home and family that she deserves. Thank you for opening your hearts to her. We are furever grateful.
