“Ringing in the new year” means celebrating the start of a new year, often with festivities like parties, fireworks, and countdowns, referencing the old tradition of ringing bells to mark the beginning of a new period; essentially, it signifies welcoming the new year with a celebratory act.
At Almost Home Foster & Rescue we ringing in the New Year with the old adage, “Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise.” Healthy…nope, Wealthy, Oh H No, Wise…well maybe. What we do know, is that early to bed and early to rise gives us more time to transport our AHFK furbabies to their furever homes and families.
We started out the New Year, 2025, with three incredible adoptions in the same amount of days. On January 1, 2025, our first adoption of the year took place as Sissy made her way to her furever home and family.
Sissy was a breeder-release. She came to Almost Home Foster & Rescue after being traded from one to breeder to another. With the decline in breeder purchases in our area, and the monies needed to care and feed animals on a daily basis, more and more are releasing their “stock” and allowing rescue to find their furever homes and families. Sissy, promised to us from the original breeder was sold to another, then finally made her way to us. This wasn’t the end of Sissy’s good fortune though, she was vetted and adopted to within short order to an amazing family, well-versed with the Miniature Schnauzer breed, actually a preferred breed of theirs.
Luciano and Adriana lost their beloved Miniature Schnauzer Winston in July of this past year. His memories, photos, and cremains adorn the family’s fireplace mantle. He left a huge hole in this family’s hearts and a void in their home. They grieved, and then decided to honor their much loved Winston by giving another the love and attentiveness that he had been privy to.
Sissy is the recipient of this vast amount of love that this family has to offer and give. Sissy is exactly where she deserves to be…in this home…with this family.
Luciano and Adriana, thank you for opening your hearts and home for Sissy. Thank you for extending your vast amount of love and compassion for yet another. We are furever grateful…
One of the last questions that Luciano asked as I started to leave was, “Do you have any others?”
Why, “Yes. Yes, we do.”
