Sherry is Now Poppa’s Girl…She Found the Perfect Furever Family and Home.

The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is a small-sized companion breed from the United Kingdom, renowned for their affectionate and loving personality. Standing 12 to 13 inches tall at the shoulder, these affectionate dogs are classified as toy members of the Spaniel group. Named after the British monarch who popularized the breed, they thrive on human interaction and make excellent companions for individuals and families. Their warm and gentle temperament also makes them well-suited for households with children and other pets. They are known for their friendly, patient, and loving personalities. They form strong attachments with their human companions and do not do well when left alone for long periods of time.

Their adaptability is a key attribute that adds to their appeal. Whether you live in a house or apartment, Cavaliers are content as long as they receive ample love and attention. They adapt well to various living situations and lifestyles, making them suitable for many owners. Although they’re born to be a companion, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel retains the sporty nature of their ancestors. Like other companion breeds, Cavaliers are very sensitive and require patient, gentle training.

We have had several King Cavalier Spaniels along with F1 & F1b Cavapoos grace our threshold at Almost Home Foster & Rescue.  Sherry, our most recent F1 Cavapoo, (King Cavalier/Toy Poodle mix) came into rescue through a breeder release program.  Her former owner is closing his doors and asked us for assistance in finding good homes for his dogs.  We upped our game and found great homes for all of them.  Sherry came in mid-October with her three baby girls.  We made sure all her babies were tucked into phenomenal homes, then we went in search for Sherry’s.

Sherry is the epitome of the King Cavalier description.  A true lap dog with a special, strong bond to her human.  She was our lap dog through the MN Vikings games, and she curled up on the edge of the bed at the end of the day.  She was incredibly difficult to let go.

Last night Sherry found her furever home and family.  Galen and Darlene have had multiple King Cavaliers throughout their lives and has always been a special part of their family.  Both are now retired, and Sherry will have long walks in a wooded area filled with wildlife, always having a pet parent at her side.

Sherry hit the jackpot with this furever family.  Thank you, Galen and Darlene, for opening your hearts and home to this little girl.  Thank you for giving her the family that she deserves.
