Almost Home Foster & Rescue MN License 132328 takes in a number of breeder-releases. As is common with this group of dogs, they seem to be well-socialized with other dogs, but lack the knowledge, or how-to-knowledge to interact with humans. Most of the time, we have the dogs completely vetted, groomed and available for their furever homes and families and they still don’t understand why this human, or humans, are adamant about all this “touchy, feely, warm and fuzzy feeling.” Shania is one of those dogs.
Shania was released to AHFK. She was well socialized with all the other dogs, could play and interact without incident, however she would respond with fear of the unknown, and scurry to the back of the kennel, to the corner of the yard, to the far reaches of the building whenever a human approached her. Little by little, she began to approach us but still scurried away at the last second. It is why we try very hard to find families that have a stay-at-home pet parent, or one who works from home, or is retired for these timid furbabies. They need constant interaction from their humans to gain the trust and confidence that is needed to become a viable family member. With Shania, we nailed it! 100% and then some.
Jeff and Catrina are both retired and spend 90% of their time at home. Occasionally, a trip to the grocery store or other errands is required and their cherished furbabies will be home. Shania will never be alone, however. With her family package she gained a fur-brother, Koda. In addition, Jeff and Catrina have a beautiful, securely fenced backyard, a doggy door access and are very familiar with the Pomeranian breed. Shania found the perfect family with all the amenities.
