THEY LEFT WITHOUT THEM!
No goodbye. No note. Not even a bowl of clean water.
They packed their things. Walked out.
And LEFT THEIR DOGS BEHIND.
Not by accident.
Not “we forgot.”
They just decided that they didn’t need, nor want their two, precious Pomeranians any longer. They were disposable, discardable.
Then hours later—HOURS—they called an animal advocate who lived TWO. HOURS. AWAY.
“Hey… we left the dogs. Someone should probably go get them.”
The house was trashed. The heat inside was 100°. The AC was shut off.
Their water? BOILING.
Their little bodies? Shaking, filthy, dehydrated.
Their fate, had there not been an intervention, heatstroke and ultimately death.
This was of no concern to the owners, they didn’t matter.
But they DO.
They matter to us.
Sadie and Zaria did matter, and we are thankful that the owners had a slimmer of conscientiousness to make the call, to let someone know that Sadie and Zaria needed help.
They ventured out on a two day journey, heading to Minnesota, to Almost Home Foster & Rescue. Many individuals and rescues wanted to adopt and place in to rescue, but only if they could be separated. Sadie and Zaria, birth sisters, littermates, and now survivors of their previous family’s abuse and neglect, would remain bonded. Together furever!
John had submitted an application to AHFK many months ago. He had adopted a number of Pomeranians in his lifetime and was ready to extend his family…he was waiting for a Pomeranian. When he sent another interest inquiry, requesting information on the girls. “John, they stay together, we will not separate them.”
John thought that would be just fine. When I run errands and can’t take them with me, they will have each other. “So, two it is.”
We are truly grateful, John, for opening your heart and home to these two amazing furkids. Thank you for giving them the life, home, and family that they are truly deserving of.
