Almost Home Foster & Rescue MN License 132328 currently has, and has had in the past, the opportunity to help several area breeders reduce their numbers, their inventory. We feel that every dog deserves a warm bed, a couch to sit on, know the feel of carpet, of a lap, a bed, their own or shared with a human. Whether the furbaby comes to us from an owner who no longer can care for their pet, or a city/county pound, from a “free to good home” site, or released from a breeder, these dogs deserve a family, a home, a chance at quality of life.
Mariah came to us as a breeder-release. Although socialized with other dogs, she was timid around humans; unsure of what they expected or wanted from her. Mariah was one that we left alone, waiting for her to approach us when she became comfortable, but with all the fosters at AHFK, she would shy away and get lost in the pack. What she did grasp and waited for every night, that which would end her day in sheer ecstasy, was to sleep at the foot of her human’s bed. Every night, after supper, she would pace from the door leading outside to the bedroom door, waiting, dreaming for it to open and she could jump up, and lay down next to me. She was then in heaven.
Mariah found her family last weekend. Bruce and Jean had been on vacation when they first spotted Mariah’s photo and bio on Petfinder. The application was submitted immediately. And upon their return home, Mariah went home. Scooped up by Poppa Bruce, his gentle demeanor and relaxed pose, Mariah was quick to settle in next to him. Momma Jean was doting on her every anticipated need and want. Mariah, girlfriend…you hit the motherlode of homes and families. You are cherished, loved, and treasured.
