Early this Spring, Almost Home Foster & Rescue was asked to help a local family. Their resident puppers had reached the age of breeding and due to one partner unable to work due to extensive medical surgeries and being laid up, the money to spay and neuter the dogs was not financially attainable. The breeding was out of control and they reached out for help. AHFK was able to take 8 of these Chihuahua/Dachshund and Shih Tzu/Poodle mixes into rescue.
Punkin, along with Dollie, Lilly, Trixie, Mollie Jr, Walter, Rusty, and Opal were all welcomed into Almost Home Foster & Rescue. They were all vetted, microchipped, and either spayed or neutered and made ready for adoption.
We received a phone call from Kennedee. She, along with her dad John, wanted to adopt Punkin and surprise her mom with this incredible birthday gift. Her mom, DeAnn, had lost her beloved Mini-Pin Loretta a couple of years earlier and the hole was still apparent. Kennedee and John felt that she was ready, once again, to let another into her heart…and she did with every ounce of her being.
This past Sunday, Punkin packed her travel bags and headed an hour south to join her furever family. DeAnn, “was already in love,” upon our arrival and she settled into her new momma’s arms immediately. Punkin even acquired a fur-brother, Willie, whose bed and blanket she was quick to claim. There will be lots of snuggles, cuddles and love filled days ahead for Punkin.
