Oklahoma Foster Momma Felicia Stilley – yes, she strikes again – brought a Senior Yorkie to Minnesota for a second opinion on veterinary care. She made the 20-hour, round trip to ensure that Skyler received the best care possible. Felicia states that she wasn’t even home yet when that area animal shelter reached out to her. “We got a little, can you take?” We needn’t second guess her response. The next morning, she picked up Oscar and took him to the vet. Unfortunately, Oscar was Heartworm positive and the veterinarians in the area couldn’t get him in for treatment for three months. We made the decision to start the Doxycycline and move Oscar to Minnesota. Lord knows we didn’t have the room, but when one is in need, one makes it. A little rearranging here, push a few more adoptions there, split a couple of yards here, and Walaa, we made room.
Oscar completed his treatments and began his low-activity, down-time regiment. We received applications for this boy, two in one day…we were ecstatic!
This past Sunday we headed South of the Minnesota border to a small rural area in Iowa where Oscar met his Furever Momma and his two fur-siblings, Corn Dog and Girl Dog. And even though they were much larger than Oscar, a small smooth-coated Terrier mix, he was in heaven. He has access to an extremely large, fenced yard and a country lifestyle and setting to die for. This is where Oscar was meant to be.
Thank you, Brogan, for giving Oscar this amazing opportunity at a family and home, complete with everything on his wish list…and more. Thank you for opening your heart and home to this once forgotten soul. We are furever grateful.
