What is the true meaning of FAMILY?
Family consists of people who support and love you, and the people that you can confide in and the people who you can trust. An ideal family is characterized by love, support, communication, trust, and shared values. Having a strong family unit provides emotional support, a sense of belonging, stability, and it fosters the development of important life skills and values.
I am one of the lucky individuals to have such a family. I wasn’t born into this family, but I was accepted into this family in the mid-80’s. We have always been in contact, reside in the same community, shared tears, anguish, stories, love, compassion and above all, respect.
Last November, Karen, my sistah in heart, asked if I could keep her in mind if a “doodle” should happen to come into rescue. It wasn’t long and Karen adopted Paris, a standard Golden Retriever/Poodle mix.
Jan, momma and friend, and her husband Glenn, reached out to us when they were ready to add a pawper to their family. Small, not white, preferably a non-shedding breed, not too curly…that’s my Jan, knows what she wants and goes for it. A trait that I will always admire.
Mya, a small, Miniature-Poodle was released by an area breeder along with 3 others. Mya was in search of her own family and home, and she found it with Jan and Glenn. We completed Mya’s vetting, and readied her for her new family, complete with a spa day treatment from the Pet Authority in Albert Lea.
Thank you Jan and Glenn for giving Mya the family that she so richly deserves. Thank you for opening your hearts and home to her. Thank you for being my heart family as well.
Love to you always.
