As the old cliche and saying goes, “When the cat’s away, the mouse will play.” We find that, more often than not, “When the hubby is away, the wife will….search Petfinder.” And, we are so thankful that she did.
Kris contacted Almost Home Foster & Rescue when Sammie’s photo popped up after Bernese Mountain Dog was entered into the search bar. Chuck and Kris had always talked about getting a Mini-Bernie, they had previously adopted 6 full-sized Bernie’s from rescues in the past, however, a Mini was one that they had their heart set on. And, there was Sammie, as if all their prayers and dreams were laid out in front of them….I mean her. Chuck was away on a three week trip….UGH! She completed and submitted the adoption application. We processed it and contacted her to set up a meet and greet. Chuck would be home on Saturday, so we scheduled the meet and greet for Sunday. Sammie was a hit.
We waited another week before we made the final trip to Chuck and Kris’ and it was then that Sammie claimed his home and his family. He had a large kennel set up, open door, and he was comfortable hauling all of his new toys and blanket into his safe space. A little time to decompress and Sammie is doing great.
Thank you Chuck and Kris for opening your hearts and home to this amazing furkid. Thank you for giving him the family that he deserves.
Heart Hugs
