Mercedes, a feminine name which reveals a more humble, charitable nature than the luxury lifestyle it so often inspires. Mercedes encompasses benevolence, kindness, and compassion. However, Mercedes was just a bit too long of a name for this little 7#, white, friendly, breeder-release Maltese, therefore Merci’, meaning thank you, one of mercies and graces, seemed to fit her size, her personality, her aura.
Merci’ was released to Almost Home Foster & Rescue in March. We agreed to take the last 12 furbabies from a local breeder and they decided to make some career changes and choices, closing the breeding facility. We agreed to take 4 dogs each month, vet and groom them, and get them ready for adoption into their furever homes and with their furever families. Merci’ was in the second group of intakes.
Merci’, extremely social with humans, dogs and indifferent to cats, was highly adoptable and within days of her final vetting – a dental procedure, we had an amazing family looking to give her a home and family.
Last weekend, Merci’ made the 2.5-hour trek to the South and arrived home. She was welcomed into this amazing family by her human momma, Abby, her dad, Mike, and her human sister Ella, who is more mother than not, calling home to check on her throughout the day. Merci’ also inherited a fur-feline as a sibling…interesting. She has a huge, securely fenced yard and loves to scoot throughout the yard. It is so large that the fence line takes a swirl and a twirl to see it all. It is heaven! And Merci’ is home.
Ella, Abby and Mike, thank you for opening your hearts and home to Merci. Thank you for providing the family and home that she so richly deserves. We are furever grateful.
