Almost Home Foster Kennels, MN Lic. 132328 is a 501c3, not-for-profit, foster-based, rescue organization. AHFK is located in SE Minnesota, in the Austin/Albert Lea area. AHFK is primarily a Beagle and small dog rescue.
Our focus is to pull from High-Kill Shelters and to save those dogs that are at risk of euthanasia.
All AHFK adoptions require an approved, completed application, a Veterinarian and Personal Reference Check, a smoke-free environment, and a home visit.
Our Adoption fee is $425.00 for a single dog adoption.
All our dogs are completely vetted, 4DX tested, current on vaccinations, *spayed/neutered, and microchipped.
We are currently accepting adoption applications for Wilma.
Wilma was pulled from a small, rural shelter in Oklahoma. Their standard practice is a three day hold and then the dogs are at risk of euthanasia. Wilma’s hold was up and she was scheduled to be euthanized due to limited space at the shelter and the high volume of intakes.
Wilma is suspected to be a Dachshund/Beagle mix. No DNA has been done to confirm this suspicion though. Wilma is approximately 20#. Wilma is black and tan in color, does well with all other dogs, is indifferent to cats, loves all humans, adults and kids.
Wilma is looking for a home where one Pet Parent that is a stay-at-home parent, or one which works from home; a family that can help Wilma acclimate to her new surroundings and environment with compassion, love, and patience. Please allow 6-8 weeks for her to acclimate to the drastic changes in her life. Wilma would also love to have a fur-sibling in the home to help her acclimate to her new environment and routine.
Because of the Beagle breed in her, we would like a home with a securely fenced yard or enclosed area for Wilma.
As a general rule, we state that all of our fosters are not house-trained. We realize that changes in routine and environment causes stress and can lead to accidents. Wilma appears to be house-trained once the new routine and schedules are learned.
Meet and greets are scheduled upon approved, completed application. If interested in Wilma, adoption applications can be filled out and submitted on our website:
