Lyla, and five additional Chihuahuas were discovered, in a home in WV. They were living in horrific conditions and all 6 were being starved, they were emaciated. They were all sick, however, Lyla was in critical condition and her status was guarded. All were confiscated by the officials in West Virginia and taken to the local, rural animal shelter for assessment and to begin their journey back to health.
A rescue from the Eastern Coast region stepped up and committed to the six. However, when they appeared health enough to travel, it was determined that Lyla was still too sick to go with the rest, and she was left behind. Once she was medically cleared to travel, we were contacted and asked if we had room to take her in. We also manage to find the room.
Lyla is a 4 year old, Black & Tan Chihuahua weighing approximately 8-10#. She loves to cuddle with her human, is doing great at potty-training, and she is healthy.
Lyla is looking for a home where one Pet Parent that is a stay-at-home parent, or one which works from home; a family that can help her acclimate to her new surroundings and environment with compassion, love, and patience. Please allow 6-8 weeks for Lyla to acclimate to the drastic changes in her life.
As a general rule, we state that all of our fosters are not house-trained. We realize that changes in routine and environment causes stress and can lead to accidents. Lyla is doing well with her training.
Meet and greets are scheduled upon approved, completed application. If interested in Lyla, adoption applications can be filled out and submitted on our website:
