Mabeline Hits the Jackpot! Her Search for a Furever Home and Family is Complete, and it is Exactly the Environment that Mabeline Desired.

Mabeline’s rescue journey began in December of 2018 when we welcomed her to Almost Home Foster & Rescue.  She was an owner/surrender.  There was a new baby in the home and “no time for Mabeline.”  At 4 years of age, it was the only home and family that she knew.  Mabeline was adopted quickly.  She became a treasured member of Manny and Michelle’s family.  She loved her daily walks and the attention that she received was second to none.  Manny passed away in April of 2023 and Michelle tried to continue the caretaking of Mabeline, however, afflicted with severe Rheumatoid Arthritis, Michelle was unable to continue the walks and care that Mabeline needed.  At nearly 9 years of age she was returned to AHFK.

Upon returning, we brought her up-to-date on her vaccines.  We had a full dental procedure done and we had a large, softball-sized fatty tumor removed from her underbelly.  Except for a few added pounds, she was healthy.  She once again regained her yard with her friend Buddy and the extra pounds came off.

She was quickly adopted, but returned.  She was food aggressive and if food was left out, or children were carrying their “finger” food around, they were at risk of Mabeline taking it from them.  She was adopted again by another couple who took daily walks; however, Mabeline the ever-hunter grew bored with not being allowed outside to roam and sniff, untethered.  Mabeline has more Spit & Vinegar than one would imagine a 10-year old to have.   Once again, Mabeline was returned.

Mabeline celebrated her 10th birthday while in rescue.  Dave and I made the decision that Mabeline would remain with us, she was already comfortable with us.  She knew her routine and she thrived at AHFK.  We would only consider another adoption if ALL the boxes could be checked.  No other dog, no children, a securely fenced yard and a pet parent that was familiar with the Beagle breed.

We received an application and every box could be checked.  Carol, a retired teacher, never married and no children, by choice, had recently lost her Beagle of 6 years.  She has only ever adopted rescued animals and fell hard for the Beagle breed.  AND, she could provide Mabeline with a gy-normous, securely fenced yard, one that is only dreamed about  in doggie heaven.

So, Mabeline went home this past weekend.  Carol opened her heart and home to Mabeline.  And Mabeline couldn’t have asked for more.

Carol, we are truly grateful that you found it in your heart to provide Mabeline with everything that she deserves and desires.  Thank you for giving this girl a chance at her final furever home and family.
