Foster Momma, Felicia Stilley, once again made the rounds through those pounds and animal shelters near her home. The intake of owner/surrenders and strays is overwhelming for her area of Oklahoma and with only a 3-day hold for each animal, the chances at survival for these animals, let alone finding a furever home and family is nearly slim to none. Felicia is their savior; she is their Godsend.
A week ago Friday, Felicia loaded up her vehicle and headed for Minnesota. She had three small dogs for rescue: Kerry – a Cairn Terrier, Jessica – a small, wire-haired Terrier, and Baby – an 11-year-old Chihuahua mix who had led a hellish life prior to rescue.
We had posted the three prior to their arrival. Our first application, and the only one we need to consider came just hours after the posting of Kerry. We had some requirements with this one, more than our usual. We needed a home and family that was accustomed to the breed, one that, preferably had another Cairn and who was either retired, or worked from home. Kerry needed presence, love, and patience. And boy…did she strike it rich!
Mary is retired, living in a beautiful area of metro Minnesota and has Gus, a 6-year-old Cairn Terrier. Kerry, now called Maisie, shares multiple walks during the day with her brother, shares her momma’s bed with her brother, and has a small, fenced area off the sliding patio door, of which she can come and go at will.
Maisie has acclimated very well to her new home and family. Momma Mary, accustomed to rescue dogs and their need for time, decompression and patience, is proving to provide the home, the life, all the love that Maisie deserves and needs.
Mary, we are furever grateful for opening your heart and home to Kerry. Thank you for providing her with the life she so richly deserves.
