“If these puppies bother the goats when they start having their babies, they’ll be shot.” If a shot can be heard around the world, you can bet that a statement made like this will drive every ounce of “git’er done” energy into any and all available rescue. When this statement was made about 8 Heeler pups, running loose and without restraints on an Amish farm, we knew it wasn’t just a threat, it was a promise.
Tracy Schroer, secured the first four. Dede King of HOABC Rescue contacted us looking for a temp foster for the four. the injured pup, and could we have her looked at by our vet. It was suspected that she had been stepped on by a horse and an eval of her injuries was needed. Their rescue had committed to three of the pups and Paws First was taking the 4th upon eval.
Almost Home Foster & Rescue had posted that we were fostering this little one through veterinary eval and ;until Paws First could locate a foster. We received an application for the little girl, but she wasn’t ours to adopt out. However, it was then learned that there were four more pups on the property and at risk of being shot. Tracy once again secured the 4 and we picked them up and started their vaccinations and veterinary requirements. Alas…again there was another female, Red Heeler. Almost Home Foster & Rescue was given the opportunity to commit to this girl and get her home.
Sarah and John, our applicant for the original Heeler, are already AHFK family. They adopted Dexter Jr. of Oklahoma 4.5 years ago. Sarah’s mother has also adopted two AHFK Beagles and her brother William, adopted Luke, an AHFK Beagle from Arkansas. This is an incredible AHFK family.
Two days after Christmas, Sadie began her three day journey to her new home and family in California. Winter is always a roll of the dice for this transport and one that we tend to shy away from during October – May, but this little girl needed her family and home. With the incredible, experienced drivers under TC Michelle Zdybicki, Sadie arrived home to John and Sarah.
We are truly grateful that you have opened your hearts and home to another AHFK furbaby. Thank you Sarah and John for your continued support of Almost Home Foster and Rescue.
