Albert came to Almost Home Foster & Rescue by way of Oklahoma. An elderly couple, unable to care for this 3-year-old, 10# Chihuahua disposed of him at the local shelter, “Someone will take him.” A phrase used repeatedly. This time, however, Albert lucked out and he was quickly adopted by a young couple, only to be returned a few days later, “no time, he needs more than we can give.” Another shuddering statement. The local shelters in and around Wewoka Oklahoma have a three-day hold. 3 DAYS! Then, because we are in an area and time of disposability, the animals are euthanized for space, regardless of health and viability. Foster Momma Felicia Stilley works tirelessly to save as many as she can, as often as she can, and does so without compensation. She is Almost Home Foster & Rescue’s Female Saint Francis of Assisi. Felicia pulled Albert and Pepper from the local pound.
James and Judith have always had a dog. They prefer the Chihuahua breed; Judith was raised with one. So, when their resident dog passed a couple months back, they began their search for another…they have so much to give, especially love.
Albert is the ultimate lap dog. He prefers his human, loves the comfort of a lap and a good armchair. Albert found that with James and Judith. His poppa James is active in walking and golf, ensuring Albert will be able to stretch his little legs and take a jaunt around the block, or explore his securely fenced back yard. Momma Judith provides the perfect lap and chair for cozying in for that cuddle or nap time.
Albert has the best of all worlds in his new home. Albert is the center of attention and with additional family members right down the street, Albert enjoys James and Judith’s grandkids on a daily basis. Life is Grand!
Thank you, James and Judith, for opening your hearts and home to this little boy. Thank you for giving him the life that he so richly deserves. We are furever grateful.
