To find oneself incarcerated in an Oklahoma Animal Shelter can be a death sentence. With a three day hold on strays and surrenders, the chance of getting out is slim at best. Rescues located in the North are constantly tagged and approached, sometimes begging to get these abandoned animals out of Oklahoma and into loving families and environments. Almost Home Foster & Rescue is fortunate that we have amazing individuals working to get these furbabies out from behind bars and on transport North.
Tally, a Boston Terrier/Terrier mix found herself behind bars in the animal shelter of Wewoka OK. Almost daily, our foster momma visits the shelter, pulling those babies that are on the euthanasia list and looking for rescues who can make room for “just one more.” Tally struck gold when Felicia tagged her, took her home, vetted her and then began the search for a rescue that had room. We were fortunate enough, at that time, to take her in.
A slow time for adoptions, February – April, we had Tally in rescue foster for 3 months. Then the applications began to arrive. We processed the applications, and there were some really good homes and families looking to adopt, but what Tally needed was consistency, patience, a stay-at-home pet parent, and someone you fell in love with her at first sight. Tally nailed it when Myles and Alonna applied. Alonna is a stay-at-home momma to Tally, and Myles, just works right down the road. Tally is privy to daily walks, soft praising voices and has the luxury of two, very understanding and loving parents. This is exactly where Tally needed to be…This is home!
Alonna and Myles, thank you for opening your hearts and home to Tally. Thank you for being the family that she needs, for providing the home and environment that will allow her to thrive. We are truly grateful and appreciate you!
