“Are you taking any dogs?” T Anna of The Greene County Animal Shelter in Ruckersville VA asked.
“No, not at this time.” I answered. We have 22 fosters at the house right now, 2 staycation boarders, and 11 resident dogs. We are slammed.
“Okay? I thought I would ask! We have a little Schnauzer that was adopted and returned. He is super sweet and I am looking for possible rescues. People are saying that he is more Yorkie. He was a stray, weighs about 8#, guessing three years old.”
“Ahhhh, you are tempting me. What’s the info? Pictures?”
The photo followed. “Let me reach out for an area foster.” Jennifer, and her husband Dom were quick to respond. “Yes, they could foster.” I already had transport coming from that area so Chaz, as he was called, could be in Minnesota in a week and a half. Well, that was the plan, anyway.
Jennifer and T Anna made arrangements to meet and transfer Chaz over to foster. Jennifer did slow introductions with her children when they arrived home from school that day. Linc, the youngest fell hard, as did Chaz, now called Chewy, did for Linc.
The next morning, Linc took him outside so he could get his bathroom duties out of the way and then escort the boys to school. Linc informed the lady at drop off that “his name was Chewy and that Chewy will be bringing him to school everyday. “
Sometime in life, we need to listen to the smallest voices, and that of the voiceless. Chewy will not be travelling to Minnesota. Chewy was adopted by Jennifer and Dom and their beautiful family. Thank you Linc, for being the voice for Chewy. Thank you for being “his human.” Dom and Jennifer, thank you stepping up to foster, by more importantly, thank your being the family this little guy needed.
