Alfie, a gorgeous little Bichon Frise’ was reluctantly surrendered to Almost Home Foster & Rescue. Little Alfie, and the smallest family member were butting heads. They were both in their “terrible twos” and they had the ability and knack to press each other’s button. Although there are times when we would love to send out human baby down the road on transport…I know I did, it is quite frowned upon. This family’s dynamics had taken such a drastic turn of events since they had acquired Alf and the time that he spent alone was more than they could bear, they asked if we could find Alf a home where he would have all the attention, love, and time that he needed and deserved.
We found a family immediately and Alf was put on transport from West Virginia to Minnesota. He was welcomed into rescue after a two-day journey. Time to decompress and learn new routines all over again. Illness and ailments struck the potential, adopting family and they had to withdraw their application. We reposted Alf and in less than a week we received a phone call, a promising furever family for Alf.
Andrew is a dog groomer who is employed in the Minneapolis area. Andrew’s employer also works with area rescuers who need temporary boarding and grooming. Andrew had impeccable references and was extremely anxious to meet Alf, so he made the 1.5-hour trip to Albert Lea to do an initial meet and greet, which turned into a phenomenal meet and keep. The home visit was completed however, and Alf is now with his furever dad, spending quality time at home in the evenings and “going to work with dad” by day.
Thank you, Andrew, for opening your heart and home to Alf. Thank you for giving him the home and family that he so richly deserves. We are furever grateful.
