Tossed from the Car Like Litter, Ricky Found his Family Extraordinaire & Complete with Anemities

In May of this year, it was witnessed that Ricky, then called Whiskey, was tossed from a vehicle.  The Good Samaritan that witnessed this horrific event, scooped him up and surrendered him to Gratitude Farms of East Bethel.  Because of the nature of which Ricky was abandoned, the local authorities were called, and the request went out via social media to find his owners and answer a few simple questions.  Did they dispose of their dog in this manner?  Was he stolen?  And, Why?  Just WHY?

Almost Home Foster & Rescue had reached out to Gratitude Farms and inquired if there as a microchip that would link back to our rescue.  We had adopted quite a few Beagles out in that area.  There was no chip.  We extended the offer to help if they should need.  Our offer was accepted, and I drove to East Bethel to pick Ricky up.

The owner had come forward to reclaim his dog.  He had seen the negative comments and wanted to make all of this go away.  The Sherrif however, had an ultimatum for him, Surrender the dog to Gratitude Farms, or Pay the fines and charges affiliated with that of an Animal Cruelty Offense.  He surrendered his dog.  Why? – Because his 8-year-old son had difficulty leash walking him.  So, instead of teaching his child and training his dog – he got rid of the dog.

Ricky suffered some anxiety due to the abandonment.  He was very vocal when left alone, or in a crate.  Ricky needed a human…he had one before and couldn’t understand where they were.  We had inquiries and applications, but none could provide the security and companionship that Ricky needed.  This is, until we received an application from Matt.

Matt is a stay-at-home pet dad. His home sits on lake front property in Maine.  His backyard is a Beagle’s dream of forest and hiking trails.  Ricky hit the all-time family exceptional’ with Matt.  We have already received raving comments from Matt and how well Ricky has settled in to his new home and surroundings.

Thank you, Matt, for giving Ricky everything that he deserves and needs.  Thank you for being his family.  Heart hugs!
