Our Success

Fancy * IA came to Almost Home Foster & Rescue by way of a breeder release.  Over the past several years, AHFK has been assisting a local breeder to downsize and eventually close the doors to their breeding business, restructure their vision in animal care, renovate their building and business and re-open as a boarding facility

Our Memorial Weekend started out early this past week.  Early evening on Wednesday, Carla and Allen visited Almost Home Foster & Rescue.  They had visited our website: almosthomefoster.com where Carla claims, “Marsha was calling to me.”  Initially they were interested in adopting Marsha and her sister Susie, however, we have made it our policy not

Incarcerated in an animal shelter in Oklahoma, a sure death sentence for many, Hobo found himself on the euthanasia list.  Together with Tally, another fortunate furbaby lucky enough to meet AHFK Foster Momma Felicia, Hobo was also tagged for rescue, pulled, vetted and readied for transport North, to Minnesota and Almost Home Foster &

Approximately 6 years ago Almost Home Foster & Rescue assisted a local breeder with finding homes for the dogs that were being released from breeding.  Their intent was to close their breeding facility and focus on renovating their facility into a boarding kennel instead.  In April, AHFK took the last of their dogs into rescue.

Lyla, along with five additional Chihuahuas, was confiscated from a deplorable, inhumane, neglected environment in West Virginia.  The owner was charged and the 6 Chihuahuas, starved, emaciated, and clinging to life, were made wards of the West Virginia Humane Society.  As they regained their health, an East Coast Rescue stepped up and tagged the

Casper, both as a given name and as a pet name, generally means “treasurer” or “treasurer bearer.”  Derived from Gaspar, said to have been one of the three Magi who paid homage to the infant Jesus, bearing the gift of frankincense.   We associate the color white with Casper, as in the Friendly Ghost, a

Mercedes, a feminine name which reveals a more humble, charitable nature than the luxury lifestyle it so often inspires.  Mercedes encompasses benevolence, kindness, and compassion.  However, Mercedes was just a bit too long of a name for this little 7#, white, friendly, breeder-release Maltese, therefore Merci’, meaning thank you, one of mercies and graces, seemed
