Charly, along with her 5 siblings made her way to Minnesota, to Almost Home Foster & Rescue at the age of 6 months. Their momma had been listed on Craigslist as “free to a good home.” We all know where that could lead and the horror stories that circulate because of animals being given away on social platforms without the proper vetting of the individual taking the “prized family pet.”
The individual who answered the ad is a foster momma for Almost Home Foster & Rescue, who resides in the Wewoka Oklahoma area. Regan secured momma Chihuahua after all her questions were asked and answered.
“Yes, the dog is spayed. Yes, the dog is up to date on vaccinations. Yes, she gets along with other dogs.” So, Regan took the “free to a good home” dog home.
Shortly thereafter, the little Chihuahua’s body displayed signs that she was pregnant. So much for honesty.
When the pups, all six of them were weaned and healthy, Regan contacted AHFK and asked if we had room. We met in Liberty MO and the 6 Chihuahua/Chi-Terrier Pups made their way to rescue, to Minnesota.
Charly, a sweetheart of a furbaby with all the love and kisses in the world for the human that will tolerate it, was one of the friendliest of the bunch. She was soft and docile, yet given an inch for affection, she would take a mile. And that is the trait that Mike and Lori fell in love with.
Mike and Lori have always looked to rescue when adding a furbaby to the family. Nellie, their 2-year-old mix was brought up from Kentucky. Lori had a passion for the Chihuahua breed, and after the loss of their beloved Chihuahua, she was ready to open her heart to another. Charly slid right into that heart, into their home, and into the most perfect family.
Charly’s home overlooks a pond, has walking paths, and large windows where she can take in the world.
Thank you, Mike and Lori, for giving this girl her dream house, her dream family, her dream world.
