“Hi. My name is Robert, and my family would like to adopt one of your dogs.”
Yes, there was a little bit of chest-puffing to be had. The call was coming from the West Coast…our little name had traveled to yet another West Coast state…Washington.
“My daughter would like a dog and we would love to have a small, house-dog. My wife, however, is extremely allergic to dogs and we noticed that you have or have had Cavapoos. Can you help us?”
The only Cavapoo that we had at the time of the phone was labeled an F1; ½ King Cavalier Spaniel and ½ Poodle. Iris took on too much of the King Cavalier traits and the risk of sending a dog on a three-day journey only to have to be returned because momma was allergic was too big of a risk. I knew the breeder was releasing additional dogs in the next couple of weeks and I would keep them informed. The application was processed and approved…now we waited.
Amber was released to rescue. Labeled an F1b, ¼ King Cavalier Spaniel and ¾ Poodle, we felt that we had found the perfect furbaby for this family. Amber was vetted and began her three-day journey across the USA to her furever family. Due to wildfires out West, the first transport had to be postponed, and two weeks felt like an eternity for Annika, her soon to be human momma. The second schedule went off without a hitch and Amber was welcomed homed by her furever family.
Thank you, Annika, Robert and Alanna, for giving Almost Home Foster & Rescue the opportunity. Thank you for opening your hearts and home to Amber and giving her the family that she deserves.
