After 4 Long Months, Hooligan Finally Finds His Furever Home and Family – We are Furever Grateful!

Hooligan, along with 5 other Pomeranians were released by a local breeder to Almost Home Foster & Rescue in April this year.  The four puppies, Luna, and Banshee all found furever homes and families rather quickly.  Hooligan remained in rescue.  We are considered a foster-based rescue.  We have 8 fenced yards/areas on our farm.  All the yards have shelter structures in them, or the fenced area is attached to a building in which the furbaby has access.  Hooligan shared his 600 square foot yard and attached building with 5 other dogs, similar in temperament and who all got along.  Hooligan had the luxury of playing in a large yard by day with his canine companions while we were at work and in the evening was crated in a large 36” crate complete with food and water bowls and a 3” mattress.  Hooligan lacked for nothing, except his own furever family.

Toward the end of July, we received a phone call from Michaela.  She was interested in Hooligan and wanted to know our rescue’s procedure for adoption.  She had had several Pomeranians in the past, along with other breeds, but her heart was with the Pomeranian breed, her soul dog.   After a lengthy conversation, Michaela was going to put her application in.  Within minutes I had another call from her.  She had realized that there was a 20-hour distance between us.  She wouldn’t be able to travel that far.  I told her that transport, upon application approval, would be arranged.  We had many conversations from that day forward.

Last weekend, with the aid of Michelle Zdybicki and some incredible, volunteer drivers and one amazing overnighter…Hooligan made the two-day journey home.  On Sunday, Hooligan met up with his human mom and dad, and his fur-sister in Ashville NC where they continued home to South Carolina.

Thank you, Michaela, and Ubaldo for taking that first step, for making that first phone call.  Thank you for opening your heart and home to Hooligan, for providing him with his furever home and family – which he truly deserves.  We are furever grateful.
