Smitty found himself in a small, rural, Oklahoma shelter. Smitty, it appeared, at one time had a family, but now, no one came forth. No one came to claim him. No one came to take him home, snuggle with him and shower him with all the love and attention that a missing furbaby should have experienced. Smitty found himself in the Seminole County Animal Shelter, and on the euthanasia list. Smitty was scheduled to die. His time was up. He was scheduled to be euthanized on Thursday, May 12th.
I saw the Facebook posting for Smitty on Tuesday, May 11th. I saw that his time was up and we had better crunch some timelines if we were to save this boy. I sent the photo and information to Foster Momma Felicia Stilley in Oklahoma. On Wednesday, together with our rescue paperwork, Felicia made the quick, 20-minute drive to the shelter, presented the paperwork and pulled Smitty, with one day remaining. We met in Kansas City on Friday morning and Smitty was welcomed into rescue; welcomed into Almost Home Foster & Rescue of MN.
On June 24th, Smitty had a meet and greet with Van and Kassi, and he was welcomed into his new home by his new family; never to return to rescue again. Smitty, nka Murphy, won the hearts of his new family and he is adored, pampered and loved!
Thank you, Vahn and Kassi, for giving this boy the family he deserves. Thank you for opening your hearts and home to him. We are furever grateful.
