Angel’s Adoption and Homecoming Includes a Huge Surprise…She is Reunited with Her Biological Momma

Okay, here we go. It is 3:19am, yes am, the dogs are fed and put into their respective yards, and it is time for me to get caught up on adoption postings. I have August adoptions that I still have not brought to light; haven’t given the wonderful families and the incredible drivers, fosters, overnighters, transport coordinator, or anyone for that matter, their due diligence. So, here we go…
This story has been told many times. A local family, struggling with medical complications, disabilities, inability to work because of the complications, and unable to stretch the almighty dollar, and couldn’t afford to spay and neuter their furbabies, ended up with a breeding issue. We were called about a year ago and over the course of a few short weeks, manage to remove and adopt out 22 of the Shih Tzu/Dachshund mix pups. John, DeAnn, and Kennedi adopted Punkin in August of 2025. Prior to Punkin’s adoption, she had one litter; three females. The family had kept one pup, Angel, however, a year later, August of 2026, the family reached out and asked me to take Angel into rescue. More medical complications arose and they were unable to feed and care for the pups.
I emailed DeAnn with a picture of Angel. “One of Punkin’s babies. Just thought that I would share.” I don’t even think that I hit the “send” button.
“We’ll take her.”
Wait, what? Oh joy! Angel was truly going home, really home to a fantastic family and to her true momma.
Punkin, a little unsure of this new arrival, quickly became the terrific momma that she is and welcomed little Angel, nka Polly, into her heart (again) and home; as did John, DeAnn, and Kennedi. And, Willie, their resident original dog, well, he welcomes everyone, 4 and 2-legged.
To this amazing family, thank you for opening your hearts and home to yet another in need. Thank you for giving these rescued pups, yes, all three, the life and love that they truly deserve.
We are furever grateful.
