Renegade originally came into rescue back in December of 2021. Abandoned in West Virginia, we transplanted him to Minnesota, where he was vetted and treated for heartworm. He was one of the lucky ones, he had a family in Northern Minnesota waiting for the “all clear” after his treatment. Life was good for Renegade as he was joining an Alumni Almost Home Foster & Rescue Family. Julian and Gin had just a few months prior, adopted Asher, a Virginia transplant. Life was good and the “boys” progressed. Then the family dynamics fell apart. The family went their separate ways and the strain of working full time, not having a back up to care for the dogs, no fenced yard…yes, “they were going to do that,” Asher and Renegade were left alone for, up to 18 hours a day. This is not what they signed up for, therefore, they were returned.
They were brought up-to-date on their vaccinations, both received their 4DX testing and a much needed dental. We then posted them as available for adoption.
Renegade’s second chance arrived. We received an application, processed it, spoke with the family through numerous emails and phone calls, then scheduled a meet and greet nearly 4 hours North, deep into God’s Country – State and National Forests, Parks, Lakes and Trees….so many trees.
John and Sheri, originally from the SW Minnesota and NW Iowa, were transplants themselves the Northern Minnesota some 30 years ago. Now, newly retired. They had recently lost their Beagle, and their resident dog, Nala was at a loss. Her depressive state worried them. No ambition. Didn’t want to take her daily walks, they new what she needed…they knew what they also needed to fill the void. Enter Renegade!!
Nala’s first reaction was, “meh” to say the least, however, by the time I was ready to go, she was bounding throughout the house, excited that her new brother had arrived. She returned to John on several occasions, thanking him for this wonderful gift.
John updated me after just a couple of days stating that Nala was back to her old self again, full of life and enjoying her brother.
Thank you John and Sheri for giving Renegade this another chance; for giving him his furever home and family. We are furever grateful.
