From HSA to ESA, Jessica Found Her Purpose, Her Family, and Her Home

Felicia Stilley is a dedicated foster who primarily works with large dogs. However, after seeing the need at local shelters and dealing with abandoned dogs of all sizes, she has successfully vetted and rescued numerous dogs ranging from small to large. Felicia even rescued our two personal dogs, Peyton (formerly Blondie) and Ada, who have become the center of our lives.
In mid-October, Felicia contacted us about three small dogs in need of placement. We requested a few weeks to finalize current adoptions and opened space for them by the beginning of November.
On November 11th, Felicia made the ten-hour trip to Minnesota with Kerrie, Baby, and Jessica. Kerrie and Baby were adopted into their permanent homes within a week. Jessica, a unique wire-haired terrier mix, took a bit longer to find the right match, despite being exceptionally smart, well-mannered, and loving.
Yesterday, Jessica finally went to her forever home. While we generally categorize our dogs as Human Support Animals (HSA) rather than ESA, we have made exceptions for exceptional cases. Jessica has now become one of the rare few to earn that elite honor.
Beth gave us an incredible pupdate this morning:
“Jessica is now Bella and she is adapting very well. She already follows Ashley around and spends her time on Ashley’s lap. It’s almost as if she knows who she is here for. All the animals get along great too. Thank you so much for letting us adopt her.”
Beth, we are furever grateful that you have given Bella this incredible family and home. Thank you for opening your hearts and home to this little furbaby. Heart hugs.
