This past November we received a call. “Breeder is releasing three dogs. A female Bichon, 6 years of age, a female, 6-year old Yorkshire Terrier, and a 3 month old, male, Morkie pup. Can you take all three?”
It always seems that regardless if we have the room or not, we rearrange here, scoot a few over there, and make available space for those in need. The revolving door syndrome for the past 10 years, at our home has left us exhausted and drained – yet, we march on.
Finn, the Morkie, and Freya the Bichon were quickly adopted. Coming into December is a slow and rough time for adoptions, however, right after Christmas, we received the perfect, no thee ULTIMATE adoption application for Anya.
Heidi was a veteran when it came to breeder-release Yorkies. Junie, her 7-year-old Yorkie was a breeder release with all the quirks and antics associated with lack of human socializing and the lack of veterinary care; especially dentals, that one is neglectful of. Junie didn’t have a tooth in her head, Anya had two. Heidi was a work from home momma living in a ground floor apartment with a complex community dog area just steps away. Anya struck gold.
Junie and Anya quickly bonded, and can be seen playing in the dog park, taking naps together, and just, well, “hanging out with family.”
Heidi, we are furever grateful and our hearts are full. Thank you for opening your heart and home to Anya. Thank you for providing her with the home, family and life that she deserves.
