“Michelle, can we move a couple of dogs the Saturday after Thanksgiving? Do you think that we can find drivers?”
“I don’t know, we can try,” was Michelle’s response.
“Let’s put it out there. I’ll drive to Kearney if I have to.”
Later on, Michelle contacted me, “Are we still trying to run this transport? The whole state of MN and IA is to have a Winter Snowstorm on Saturday.”
“We are still on…let me see about running Friday morning.” I checked with the two families that would be receiving Pinto and CeCe…a daughter and mother, living a state apart. Friday was a go. Susan and Kevin, who were adopting Pinto, would overnight CeCe, Susan’s mother’s new baby Corgi and get her back on transport Saturday morning. It was all coming together beautifully.
Pinto, an 8-year-old Shih Tzu/Poodle mix was surrendered to Almost Home Foster & Rescue when his previous owner had to move and couldn’t take him along. Life sometimes throws curveballs, and one must do what is best for the fur-kid. We brought Pinto up to date on his vaccinations, neutered him and gave him a much-needed dental.
Susan, a long-time transporter of AHFK furbabies saw our availability posting on Pinto and contacted her sister Kris Adams, AHFK board member, previous AHFK adopter and foster. Kris reached out to us…and within minutes, an application was received from Susan…this was her dream dog…this is exactly what she had been waiting for. With Pinto, we are not quite sure who rescued whom, but we do know that Susan is “feeling blessed” with this new addition in her family.
Kevin and Susan, thank you for opening your heart and home to Pinto. Thank you for giving him the incredible family and home that he deserves. Thank you for always being a part of AHFK.
