Foster Momma, Felicia Stilley, once again made the rounds through those pounds and animal shelters near her home. The intake of owner/surrenders and strays is overwhelming for her area of Oklahoma and with only a 3-day hold for each animal, the chances at survival for these animals, let alone finding a furever home and family is nearly slim to none. Felicia is their savior; she is their Godsend.
A week ago Friday, Felicia loaded up her vehicle and headed for Minnesota. She had three small dogs for rescue: Kerry – a Cairn Terrier, Jessica – a small, wire-haired Terrier, and Baby – an 11-year-old Chihuahua mix who was an owner/surrender, who had led a hellish life prior to rescue.
An 11-year-old Chihuahua, weighing slightly over 2#, emaciated, unkempt, unvetted, and once could safely presume, unloved, and unwanted. She was given away to a family who made sure that she was fed, loved, and kept safe. They, however, were just a steppingstone and could not keep her. That is when Felicia was called.
This little, petite girl, named Baby, was quick to tug at one’s heartstrings. And, when she discovered how great it felt to be loved, cuddled, and held, she put up a pretty strong demand for it. She was quick to claim her human’s lap and arms. She was extremely difficult to let go, as well. No matter how difficult this little girl’s life was prior to rescue, she had a smile that came through.
This past Sunday, Baby found her furever home and family. Momma Trish wasted no time in scooping her up, cradling her and sharing her lap with her. Baby was in heaven. She was welcomed by two large fur-siblings as well, Walter, a Senior Coonhound and Callie, a beautiful Collie mix. Baby would be well protected when out in the large, securely fenced yard.
