Charlotte Lets the Resident Dog Know that there is a New Dog at this Homestead

All in all, we welcomed 14 Chihuahua/Dachshund mix puppies into Almost Home Foster & Rescue of MN.  The family had every intention of spaying and neutering their adult dogs, however, life throws us a sidearm sliding curve and all the best intentions are put on the back burner.  With this family, major medical issues,  temporary loss of employment and the inability to be mobile, gave way to litters of puppies.  The family requested help from AHFK.
The final five Chiweenies, Huey, Dewey, Louie, Mazie, and Charlotte were secured, vaccinated, microchipped and made ready for adoption.  Because they were too young to spay/neuter, they all entered our Foster to Adopt program.  The new pet parents signed waivers that their furbaby would be spayed or neutered at/between 6-9 months of age, at which time, upon receipt of proof of spay/neuter, full ownership would transfer. All five pet parents were ecstatic to get their furbabies home.
Upon entering my Veterinarian of Records office, I quickly glanced at the bulletin board located in the entryway.  The “ISO a female Chihuahua Puppy” wanted ad caught my eye.  I took down the information and inquired about the individual looking for a pup.  “Good Pet Parent!  Really nice and does all the vaccines and veterinary protocol you require.  I sent her an email.
Charlotte was our first delivery, of our three day Rescue Weekend.  Just a hop and a skip from our home/rescue, Charlotte met her new family Craig and Julie.  We approached the front door. In the front garden stood a metal dog with a “welcome” sign hanging from its neck.  Charlotte immediately assumed the defensive stance and began barking…Incessantly!    She was letting this critter know that there was a new dog at the homestead.
Craig and Julie fell hard for this little one.  I wasn’t 20 minutes away, after leaving, when I got the first pupdate:  “She is so cute and she is fun walking.  We are calling her Daisy.”
Craig and Julie, thank you for opening your heart and home to this little girl.  Thank yo for giving her the family that she so richly deserves.  We are furever grateful.

  1. Thank you so much for Daisy. She is a fun time every minute. This lady loves walking and smelling her other friends in the block. Dad gets her face licked every time and laughs away. We are working on using the outdoors for the bathroom. She wants to please everyone. She has been good to visitors, balks at first and then she will play with them. Thank you for her.

    1. Thank you for opening your heart and home to her and for giving her the best life, family, and home possible. We are furever grateful.
