Brandy (Bourbon), a six-year-old Lemon Beagle was released from breeding back in July of 2024. Brandy had several applications, even more inquiries, and even had an approved adoption. However, after just a few days, it was apparent that the environment wasn’t a good fit for Brandy. She longed to be outside, a lot! She longed to take long walks and spend time outdoors, sniffing and chasing. She had more energy and “want to” than the family could handle. So Brandy came back.
She watched as many rescue fur babies came and went at Almost Home Foster & Rescue. She watched as a new intake filled an empty sleeping crate, and noticed when a new foster entered the yard. Brandy kept her spirits up. She shared a yard with select fosters keeping her days busy and slept soundly and comfortably at night. But, she was still dreaming of having her own family.
And, as they say, “When it rains, it pours,” and we received several applications for Brandy all in a two week period. We had two approved applications for Brandy. And, after 10 long months in rescue foster, Brandy got a home and a family all her own.
Sondra and Mike, familiar with the Beagle breed, familiar with their incredible hunting drive, “that their brains are in the nose, and their ears for decorative purposes only” were ready to add one to their family after losing theirs to cancer. They were ready to give all their love, compassion, patience, and time to another – and they wanted Brandy – so much so that they asked to finalize the adoption just 2 days into the two-week sleepover.
