Did you ever have something happen to you that was so wonderful, so incredible, that you felt if you told someone, or spread the glorious news, you would certainly jinx that amazing event and it would come back to bite you? Yeah, me too.
Bowie, originally from North Carolina was dumped by his previous owner in a small, rural shelter. Bowie, was assessed by the shelter staff and determined to be, in their best guess, about 6- 7 years of age. Due to space and an increasing amount of irresponsible dog owners, the shelter experienced and increase in the amount of incoming dogs. Bowie was scheduled for euthanasia due to space.
Bowie’s posting was spotted by a couple in California. They preferred the “older/senior” dogs. Bowie was the perfect age. They contacted me and we set about tagging, finding foster, and setting up transport to Minnesota. Once assessed by the Veterinarian in NC, it was determined that he was, “Maybe 2 years of age.” Once we commit though, we are committed.
Bowie made his way to Minnesota and completed all of his vetting. That was in August of 2023. And in rescue is where he stayed. Bowie was a little different from the other Beagles in rescue. He wasn’t much of a pack dog, wasn’t much of a cuddler, he was a hunter, and he loved the outdoors. He desired human attention, but on his time… Occasionally we would see him initiate play with another, but not often. We waited for the perfect home, and waited, and waited. Then….BAM! MIC-DROP!
Last weekend Bowie found his furever home and met his new Momma. Janet, a previous Beagle momma, had lost her beloved Beagle and was ready to open her heart and home to another. Janet loves the Beagle breed and understands their innate needs and traits. A couple days after Bowie went home, we checked in with Janet and was elated when she stated, “We are doing great! Rewarding and complimenting good behavior. So far, so good!”
We are putting aside our superstitions and we are certain that we have found the perfect home and family for Bowie – We are announcing it to the world.
Thank you Janet for opening your heart and home to Bowie. Thank you for giving him the chance at a home and family, one he certainly deserves. We are furever grateful for you!
