Ceyone, a petite, Maltese/Toy Poodle Mix was found in the wee, dark hours of the morning, laying atop the garbage in a large, 32-gallon container. It appeared as if she was thrown out with the trash as one would do when cleaning their car. She was just laying there. Too stunned to move. Too afraid to venture into unknown territory? Too naïve about the big, cruel world out there?
As luck would have it, a resident in the area was just beginning her day. After cleaning up her kitchen she trotted her bag of garbage out to the container and there she was. Cold, wet, dirty, and laying in the garbage. A call was made to Kayla Dillow, one of the many West Virginia fosters that Almost Home Foster & Rescue has had the honor to work with. Kayla contacted AHFK immediately and asked if we could make room for this wee girl. We said, “Yes.” We named her Ceyone ~ One Rising with the Sun. Radiant and Bright Rays of the Early Morning Rising Sun.
We had received applications for the adoption of Ceyone even before she left West Virginia. We processed the applications and by the time she arrived in Minnesota, to Almost Home Foster & Rescue, we had a meet and greet lined up.
Last Saturday, Ceyone made the two-hour trip to the North to meet her new family. Momma Danielle and Poppa Jeff were excited to meet her. Sully, her new fur-brother was a little indifferent, wondering “just how long did she think she was gonna stay?” Ceyone felt right at home as she did zoomies throughout her new home. And getting a family photo was nearly impossible.
Danielle and Jeff, thank you so much for opening your hearts and home to this little dumpster-diver. Thank you for giving her the home and family that she so richly deserves. We are furever grateful.
