Lucy Leads the Way as She Finds Her Furever Home and Family

The last of the Chiweenies arrived in early October.  Lucy, Winnie, Rocky II and Rambo.  The previous 14 had all been adopted, however, Huey was returned to rescue.  His puppy energy was more than the ailing 10 year Shih Tzu in the home could endure and the family thought it best to return Huey so that he could find a family that could match his energy…(don’t worry, he will be leaving for that furever home at the end of the month.)

Within a 10-day period, all four of the new arrivals and Huey had adoption applications pending.  Lucy was the first of the 4 to find her furever home and family.

Everardo and Sara had always stated that then the kids were old enough to handle and understand the obligations and responsibilities of having a dog, only then would they entertain the process of adopting.  The kids, now ranging in age from 9 to 14, had proven to mom and dad just how ready and mature they were.  A meet and greet was scheduled and we set out with the 4 puppies.  The family spent time with each one individually.  Mom and daughter already knew which one they wanted, but to be fair, it was a family decision.  Could they have a couple of days to ponder?

Just a day and a half later, the call came in.  They wanted to adopt Lucy, and last Friday, Lucy went home.

We typically reach out to the newly adoptive families a couple of days later to find out if there is anything they have issues or concerns with.  The report received back was amazing,

“She is doing really good.  She is attached to my daughter and doesn’t want to be in the kennel at all.  She didn’t bark all weekend, until this morning.  She has gone potty outside and has had no accidents.  Thank you, we are enjoying her.”

Everardo and Sara, thank you for reaching out to AHFK and inquiring into rescue adoption.  Thank you for opening your heart and home to Lucy and for giving her the family and life she deserves.  Heart Hugs!
